Richard L. "Rick" Witwer, 55, of 2126 Main St., Churchtown, died Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at his home. He is survived by his wife, Cathy S. (DeHaven) Witwer. They were married for 33 years April 21.
Born in Ephrata PA, he was the son of the late Warren Eugene Witwer and Ruth (Yohn) Witwer Amthor. He served during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army, receiving a Purple Heart. Rick was a heavy equipment operator at Martins Limestone and a member of the Churchtown United Methodist Church. He was also a lifetime member of the Caernarvon Fire Company, Churchtown where he served on the Board of Directors; a member of the V. F. W. Post 7418, Gap; one of the chairmen of the Churchtown Memorial Day Activities; and treasurer of the Willow Run Hunting Camp.
Surviving in addition to his wife are his children: Chad L. Witwer, Terre Hill, and Jessica M. Witwer, at home; two granddaughters; sisters, Betty, married to Harold Wright, New Holland, and Nancy, married to Glen Erb, Mohnton; and a brother, Eugene Witwer, New Holland.
His funeral will be held Monday at 10 a.m. at Beck Funeral Home, 315 E. Main St., New Holland. Interment will follow in the United Methodist Cemetery of Churchtown. A viewing will be held at Becks Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Disabled American Veterans, P. O.
